[cAMP response-element binding protein participates in the phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulate kinase mediated neuropathic pain].

It has been reported that extracellular signal-regulate kinase (ERK) is involved in the modulation of nociceptive information and central sensitization produced by intense noxious stimuli and/or peripheral tissue inflammation. Few studies have explored the relationship between ERK and cAMP response-element binding protein (CREB) in neuropathic pain after nerve injury, such as chronic constricti...

Calcium and cAMP signals differentially regulate cAMP-responsive element-binding protein function via a Rap1-extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathway.

Two major intracellular signals that regulate neuronal function are calcium and cAMP. In many cases, the actions of these two second messengers involve long term changes in gene expression. One well studied target of both calcium and cAMP signaling is the transcription factor cAMP-responsive element-binding protein (CREB). Multiple signaling pathways have been shown to contribute to the regulat...

Protein kinase A and B-Raf mediate extracellular signal-regulated kinase activation by thyrotropin.

Thyrotropin (TSH) regulates thyroid cell proliferation and function through cAMP-mediated signaling pathways that activate protein kinase A (PKA) and Epac/Rap1. The respective roles of PKA versus Epac/Rap1 in TSH signaling remain unclear. We set out to determine whether PKA and/or Rap1 mediate extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) activation by TSH. Neither blocking Rap1 activity nor sile...

Chemical and Biological Significance of Oenothein B and Related Ellagitannin Oligomers with Macrocyclic Structure.

In 1990, Okuda et al. reported the first isolation and characterization of oenothein B, a unique ellagitannin dimer with a macrocyclic structure, from the Oenothera erythrosepala leaves. Since then, a variety of macrocyclic analogs, including trimeric-heptameric oligomers have been isolated from various medicinal plants belonging to Onagraceae, Lythraceae, and Myrtaceae. Among notable in vitro ...
